Weir Unveils Massive New Hazelmere Facility to Boost Mining Support in Western Australia

Global engineering leader Weir has significantly strengthened its presence in Western Australia with the relocation of its Minerals Division operations to a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility in Hazelmere, Perth. This strategic expansion dramatically increases the company’s service, repair, and engineering capabilities, ensuring faster turnaround times and enhanced support for the region’s booming mining sector.

Unprecedented Heavy-Duty Capacity

At the heart of the new 14,500 m² site is a colossal 4,500 m² heavy-duty workshop. Designed specifically to handle the massive scale of modern mining equipment, the facility is equipped with 80-tonne and 50-tonne overhead cranes. The site also features dedicated blast, paint, and cleaning rooms, alongside a provisioned area for future excitor testing, allowing Weir to execute complex rebuilds and maintenance entirely in-house.

Comprehensive Lifecycle Support

The new Hazelmere hub will serve as a one-stop shop for parts, spares, service, repair, and rebuild support across Weir’s extensive minerals processing portfolio. Customers can expect expert lifecycle support for a wide array of critical equipment, including:

  • Warman® slurry pumps
  • Geho® positive displacement pumps
  • Isogate® valves
  • Cavex® hydrocyclones
  • Enduron® comminution equipment (screens and crushers)

Additionally, the facility offers specialist wear solutions and Linatex® premium rubber lining services, all backed by robust in-house engineering expertise to extend the life of critical mining assets.

A Blueprint for Sustainable Engineering

Weir’s expansion isn’t just about increasing physical capacity; it’s also about reducing environmental impact. The new facility is designed with sustainability at its core, proudly boasting a 5 Star Green Building rating. To minimize its carbon footprint and improve operational efficiency, the site integrates solar power generation and smart energy management systems, aligning perfectly with the mining industry’s growing push toward greener, more sustainable operations.

Maximizing Uptime for Mining Customers

Ultimately, the goal of this major investment is to keep Western Australia’s mines running smoothly and efficiently. By drastically reducing equipment turnaround times, Weir is helping operators maximize their productivity.

Bernard Brussow, West Director of the Minerals Division APAC at Weir, highlighted the strategic value of the new site:

“This investment significantly strengthens our ability to support mining customers across Western Australia. With expanded capacity and advanced facilities, we are better positioned to help our customers maximise uptime and performance.”

Looking Ahead

As Western Australia continues to be a global powerhouse in mining and resources, Weir’s new Hazelmere facility ensures that local operators have access to world-class, rapid-response engineering support. By combining heavy-duty capacity, comprehensive product expertise, and sustainable design, Weir is perfectly positioned to drive reliability across the region’s most critical mining operations.
